Ready-Set-Teach! in Dec. 2014, Jim has been a much sought after presenter at the Faculty of Education, University of Windsor.His seminars are based on his extensive teaching experience and the content of his book.
In 2014, Jim founded J-Go LEARN Inc., an educational resource company with the express goal of maximizing teacher effectiveness and student learning. Jim is a featured writer with Education World the largest education website for teachers in the United States. His first two articles titled Innovative Tips for Parent-Teacher Conferences (Oct. 2015) and What to Do When You Have a Difficult Class (Mar. 2016) have been very popular.
Jim Gomes graduated from the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor and taught for more than 35 years within the Greater Essex County District School Board in Southwestern Ontario. A master teacher of Grade 9 mathematics, Jim established a highly successful peer-tutoring program. Throughout his career, he also served as a mentor to new teachers. His influence and love of teaching reached beyond the classroom and into his own family. Inspired by their father, Jim’s three children have all become teachers.
Beyond the classroom, Jim distinguished himself as a dedicated coach of more than 50 school and community sports teams. He coached boys and girls aged 5 to 18 in a variety of sports, including basketball, volleyball, baseball, and track and field.
In 2016, Jim was thrilled to contribute three chapters to Basketball Rules Here--a book of local interest that has raised more than $15,000 for our local Hospice charity.
An avid traveller, Jim and his wife Pam enjoy hiking in wilderness areas of national parks in Canada and the United States.
